A DAY IN THE LIFE OF Medical Writer and Vector Graphics Specialist,
The Medical Writer and Vector Graphics Specialist will engage in daily touch-bases with the R&D Director of Dermatological Cancers and the R&D Medical Writing staff to ensure progress on conference deliverables. The role involves spending a significant portion of the workday at the computer, with a primary focus on preparing vector graphics, scientific visualizations, and posters for conferences and publications. Additionally, the Medical Writer may assist in refining and polishing data visuals for marketing purposes or for use by other departments.
The responsibilities include preparing conference abstracts, which involves writing, soliciting and incorporating internal and external feedback, and tracking deadlines for multiple projects concurrently. The Medical Writer will also oversee the final submission of conference materials related to dermatological disease test products, working closely with R&D team members and external clinician collaborators.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Requirements
- A degree in the life sciences is required (BS with 3 years of graduate training or equivalent work experience, or an MS or PhD degree).
- Excellent vector graphic visualization skills, including proficiency with Illustrator or Inkscape for formatting and layout design. Proven writing skills in developing scientific deliverables are required.
- Demonstrable experience independently writing scientific abstracts and creating posters and short oral presentations is required.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and timelines while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and oral communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy, including experience with Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, collaborative writing in SharePoint, and citation managers, is required.
- Demonstrated team player.

- Preferred Requirements
- A clinical or scientific understanding of oncology is desirable.

SCHEDULE
- The schedule is Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Occasionally, off-hour work may be necessary to communicate and meet deadlines.
- For the first 3-6 months, this position requires 4 days per week in the office. After that, the role transitions to 2 days per week in the office, with the option for up to 3 days of remote work.
