Job Summary

The NIH-funded Brien laboratory is seeking an enthusiastic scientist to study the immunological response and pathogenesis of viral infections. We ask fundamental questions about viral infections and vaccination to understand how and why individuals get sick, and how to protect them. Our laboratory uses in vitro and in vivo approaches to understand infection and disease. Techniques include molecular biology, protein biochemistry, cell/tissue culture, flow cytometry, and mouse models of infection. Attention to detail, and strong communication skills are important. Interest and dedication to hands on learning of these techniques is critical. You will be a critical member of a research team, where you will be provided with the mentorship and resources to grow and be successful.



Key Responsibilities:
• Independently evaluates own research findings and communicates these to the laboratory team, PI, and collaborators.
•Provides guidance to junior trainees regarding their experiments and data interpretation.
•Keep the laboratory organized and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Manage purchasing of lab supplies and equipment.
• Ensure all laboratory equipment is running smoothly and coordinate maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents.
• Assist with the development and implementation of new laboratory protocols.
• Collect, record, and analyze data accurately and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper handling of hazardous materials.
• Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and publications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with laboratory equipment.
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers for equipment maintenance and repairs.
