SENIOR CLOUD SECURITY ENGINEER
Based onsite at Rocket Lab’s global headquarters in Long Beach, CA the Senior Cloud Security Engineer will be responsible for the design and maintenance of security controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud computing and cybersecurity, with a focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security measures to protect our cloud-based systems and applications. This role will involve collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to identify security risks, develop strategies to mitigate threats, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
- Design, implement, and maintain security controls for cloud-based environments, including infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and software as a service (SaaS) solutions.
- Conduct security assessments and risk analyses to identify vulnerabilities and develop mitigation strategies.
- Implement and manage identity and access management (IAM) solutions to control access to cloud resources and applications.
- Configure and monitor cloud security tools and services.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps processes.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices related to cloud security, and recommend proactive measures to enhance security posture.
- Provide guidance and support to internal teams on security-related matters, including incident response, compliance, and security awareness training.
- Participate in regular security audits, assessments, and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of work experience and a bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience (9+ years total work experience)
- Proven experience in cloud security architecture, design, and implementation, with expertise in major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, encryption techniques, and secure communication protocols.
- Hands-on experience with cloud security tools and services, such as AWS Security Hub, Azure Security Center, or Google Cloud Security Command Center.
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex security issues and develop effective solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of cybersecurity and cloud computing.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be physically able to commute to buildings.
- Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
Level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
