Senior Manager, Facility Operations

Darlington Raceway, nicknamed The Lady in Black and the track Too Tough to Tame, is home to the award-winning Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR and annually hosts two NASCAR Cup Series race weekends, along with the NASCAR Xfinity Series and/or NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. The Senior Manager, Facility Operations performs a variety of duties necessary to maintain company grounds, buildings, and equipment on a year-round basis, with a special emphasis on major event preparation, execution, track rentals and other onsite activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day upkeep of company grounds, buildings, and equipment to ensure the facility is “event ready” on a continual basis.
- Monitor the safety, functionality and cleanliness of all interior and exterior areas, such as offices, restrooms, storage facilities, conference rooms, parking lots and roads, campgrounds and other spaces.
- Oversee maintenance and repair of technical and office facilities; evaluate issues to determine appropriate remedies, oversee the completion of all tasks and/or repairs, either by Facilities team or outside vendors/contractors
- Address maintenance items that need immediate attention with a sense of urgency and work with leaders & partners to develop/execute effective preventative maintenance plans.
- Serve as a project manager and inspect in-house and third-party work from initial start through completion.
- Demonstrate a technical knowledge of various trades (plumbing, electrical, AV, HVAC, etc.) in order to diagnose the root of problems, determine solutions and scopes of work, assemble accurate budget forecasts, and perform basic general maintenance work.
- Assist Track leadership in the coordination of contracted services that are beyond in-house capabilities (compiling budgets, securing and evaluating bids, contracting vendors, maintaining COI compliance, etc.).
- Manage facility operations team ensuring all recurring and assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner and to department and company standards.
- Order, organize, and maintain necessary supply stock.
- Serve as the OSHA contact for annual hearing tests and safety training.
- Oversee onboarding for the facilities and maintenance team, including full-time, part-time, seasonal and event staff.
- Organize and distribute weekly/monthly track event calendars with input from Track leadership (events, scheduled deliveries, vendor work, etc.).
- Participate in Strategic Planning for the facility and make recommendations to Track leadership for capital improvements.
- Assist leadership in planning and executing special event setups.
- Serve as the onsite contact for special events and organize all post-event cleanup and facility restoration.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of four (4) years of related experience and/or training. Previous experience in maintenance supervision.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to delegate efficiently
- Proficient operating small tools and heavy equipment.
- Technical knowledge of various trades (plumbing, electrical, AV, HVAC, etc.).
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles.
- Proficient computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Perform quality work and meets deadlines with or without direct supervision.
- Able to manage projects while adhering to budgets.
- Approachable and interacts professionally with other employees, customers, and vendors.
- Demonstrates sound judgement in decision making.
- Exhibits strong verbal/written communication skills.
- Capacity to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to balance and prioritize time in the office and time in the field appropriately.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
