American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is dedicated to the success of businesses big and small with the vision to be essential to our customers’ businesses every day. GCS provides a suite of payment and lending products, solutions for travel and everyday business spending, cross border payments, global currency solutions, and business financing.

Control Management (CM) team is a newly created team within GCS that plays a critical role in collaborating across GCS to create and manage a strong control environment within the organization. 

We are hiring a Senior Manager, Strategy & Business Operations/Chief of Staff, reporting to the VP, Head of Control Management who leads a team of ~250 colleagues across the globe. The Senior Manager will be responsible for a broad range of activities including strategic, analytic, communications and human capital initiatives to help ensure business objectives are achieved. The incumbent will also act as a thought partner to the VP as they work to lead the executive office, ensuring sound business operations, a robust colleague agenda, and key strategic initiatives.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Work closely with VP and Leadership team on critical business and functional topics, including setting, refreshing, and ensuring execution of goals/priorities
  • Balance the management of day-to-day business priorities with the executive office and the broader organization in close partnership with the Executive Assistant
  • Manage team communications, operational processes, organizational planning, and critical cross-team initiatives
  • Support and drive cohesion across the team, including execution of new routines (e.g., leadership meetings, town halls etc.) across team and business partners
  • Actively participate in colleague engagement strategy and support learning and development initiatives across levels.
  • Develop high-quality and impactful presentations for a variety of audiences and stakeholders including senior leadership meetings, regulatory meetings, and town halls
  • Provide strategic support on a range of issues and lead ad hoc strategic projects as required
  • Partner with CEG, Finance, CA&C, other executive offices, and additional key business partners to achieve objectives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to achieve successful results while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to balance multiple tasks, with excellent organization skills and careful attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate white space and reprioritize business needs in a fast & evolving environment 
  • Autonomous problem solver who is solution-oriented; able to break down complex ideas into easy-to-understand messages
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data, draw relevant insights and communicate recommendations
  • Ability to create compelling presentations and visual representations of initiatives and processes 
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining strong and trusted relationships across partner teams and demonstrates high emotional intelligence
  • Must have a strong sense of integrity with proven ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain complete confidentiality
  • Sound business judgment and customer-first approach
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Strongly Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a consulting or business strategy context
  • Knowledge of Operational Risk or Control Management practices

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits

The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
