Lochmueller Group’s Water Resources Department is growing, and we are looking for a talented Water Resources Process Engineer to join our team in Kansas City, Missouri. The ideal candidate for this role will be a Professional Engineer with substantial experience working on wastewater, drinking water and/or storm water projects. This is a great opportunity to join our growing team as we expand into the Kansas City area.
Lochmueller Group is a regional engineering consulting firm with an emphasis on infrastructure.  We provide multi-disciplined services for a variety of public agencies and private entities, including transportation design; water resources design; environmental analysis & permitting; construction engineering & inspection; traffic engineering & transportation planning; surveying; and land acquisition & appraisal. Our Water Resources team is involved in a wide variety of water resources projects for states, municipalities, utilities, regional sewer districts and various private entities.

In this position, the candidate will:

  • Develop project designs in conformance with the latest design standards.
  • May be assigned management of projects and will be given budgetary limitations and staffing to complete the project.  
  • Stay current on available modeling software and utilizes it to efficiently design facilities.
  • Develop, read, and interpret schematic and construction plans.
  • Manage the production of drawings in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. 
  • Perform design quantity computations and checks for developing opinions of probable construction cost.
  • Understand and work with surveying data provided from survey department.
  • Apply a variety of specification regulations, policies and standards to assure compliance with various Federal, State, and local rules and regulations.
  • Work with clients to pursue project funding through available funding agencies while following funding agency practices and policies.
  • Perform business development activities to assist with the growth of our Water Resources service line. 

Qualifications for this role:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or other applicable engineering field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 10+ years of experience in this discipline
  • Experience as project engineer or project manager for wastewater, drinking water, and/or stormwater design projects
  • Experience with project management and accounting software is helpful
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team
