Physical Requirements

Regular lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and sitting at a computer work station.



Shift

40 hours a week. This program is a 16-week online course that also includes clinicals and shadowing with UKHC.



Job Summary

This is an education pipeline program offered in partnership with BCTC. Program participants will attend clinicals and participate in online instruction to achieve the minimum qualifications required to apply and test for CRCST certification. Program costs are covered by UK HealthCare with the expectation that participants will be hired into Central Sterile Technician positions at UK HealthCare and work in that capacity for a minimum of one year.

This 16 week program will allow individuals to be paid while attending classes to receive their CRCST certification. Classes begin on May 6th, 2024, and end on August 23rd, 2024.

A Central Sterile Tech is responsible for the delivery of case carts and floor equipment/instruments to all hospital units promptly. Picking up soiled case carts and delivering them to Central Sterile. Delivering sterile instruments and supplies to sterile storage or standard location. Putting away warehouse orders and sterile supplies. Unloading washers, and replacing filters. Cleaning and disinfecting all equipment shelves and surfaces. answering phone. Performs other duties as required.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

High school diploma required.
This program is designed to bring community members into the healthcare workforce. The desire to serve patients and work in a healthcare setting is required.
