Physical Requirements

Sitting at workstation for extended periods of time; repetitive motions typical of desk work (sitting/bending/twisting/pulling/typing); prolonged screen time; lifting/carrying/pulling objects up to 30lbs.

40 hours per week; Mostly Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm but there will be some evenings and weekends.



Job Summary

The University of Kentucky Family and Community Engagement office is seeking an Associate Director. Reporting to the Director of Family and Community Engagement, the Associate Director is responsible for programming, leadership development, and campus and community outreach. The incumbent will facilitate leadership workshops for
undergraduate and graduate students, coordinate UK’s Alternative Service Break program, and the leadership and service living learning program – serving as a liaison to Residence Life. The Associate Director will also serve as a UK 101 instructor for first year students within the LLP and serve as a liaison to registered student organizations looking for service opportunities. They will also support students and their families on a case-by-case basis through implementation of established case management processes. This position will directly supervise AmeriCorps VISTAs and 2 LLP Peer Mentors.



The ideal candidate will have:
  • Experience supporting underserved student populations in a higher education setting;
  • Knowledge of issues facing college students and their families;
  • Ability to develop and maintain partnerships with UK and external community members;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • The ability to make decisions;
  • Verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience with supervision, service learning, and student leadership development.
