JOB SUMMARY:

The Supervisor of Coding Solutions will need to be skilled in inpatient charts and have OP experience, such as Observation, Emergency Department and OP surgery. Must have a CCS and pass our IP assessment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of the Coding Services Team at CorroHealth, the Supervisor for Coding Services or Staff Augmentation, utilizes coding knowledge to assist the Leadership Team in maintaining high level of client satisfaction through managing the overall quantity and quality of coding production for any and all assigned clients. They will supervisor a team of Coding Specialists and possible Lead Coders.

  • May be responsible for a certain % of billable hours per month.  
  • Responsible for reconciling logs/Salesforce to ensure that all coders are on task. 
  • Coordinates with Leadership in reconciling coding summaries/list and getting them from coders 
  • Works with coders on scheduling 
  • Will help approve and manage overtime. 
  • Will assist in the hiring and exiting of Coders.  
  • Will assist in managing, coaching, counseling, and disciplining Team Members. 
  • Will be required to code when other coders are not available.  
  • Alerts coders of new clients they will be assigned to and sends out weekly assignments 
  • Ensures coders have access to client information and sends out updates as needed 
  • Reviews the productivity report daily; responsible for making sure the coders are at acceptable productivity levels and if not, works to find a solution 
  • Provides coders with updates/changes within coding guidelines 
  • Performs calls with each on their team to review the most recent Productivity and Compliance reports (when available) and to discuss any issues that the coder may have 
  • Coder Evaluations – Will help complete evaluations 
  • Responsible for training of new and existing Client Coding Specialists 
  • Participate in and/or lead special projects requiring coding and/or auditing for clients across the organization, as needed 
  • Notifies HR staff of any coder with company equipment which needs to be returned 
  • Provides back-up to the leadership for client interaction when they are not available 
  • Ensure procedures are being followed while also suggesting ideas for streamlining processes. 
  • Align personal conduct with and build a team culture that aligns conduct with AHIMA's Standards of Ethical Coding and the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct 
  • Comply with, promote and support direct report’s compliance with all internal policies and procedures 
  • Actively participate in Company provided training and education and ensure that direct reports complete mandatory training and education by established deadlines and are able to properly implement and/or practice the principles taught via the Company’s training and education program 
  • Ensure individual and direct report compliance with all privacy and security rules and regulations and commit to the protection of all Company confidential information, including but not limited to, Personal Health Information 
  • Thoughtfully evaluate risk, participate in the development of risk mitigation activities and engage in correcting deficiencies 
  • Preforms other duties as assigned  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • National certification through AAPC or AHIMA  CCS
  • At least 3+ years of previous coding experience 
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred 
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel. 
  • Ability to navigate in a variety of EMR environments and review hand-written charts 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required 
  • Ability to prioritize workload, to meet deadlines and to maintain a high level of quality and accuracy 
  • Initiative, resourcefulness, and attention to detail. 
  • Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required 
  • High level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters, and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity.  
  • High degree of initiative, dependability, and ability to work with little supervision. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions as described. Regular eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity is required to operate office equipment. The ability to perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day and function in an environment with constant interruptions is required. At times, Team Members are subject to sitting for prolonged periods. Infrequently, Team Member must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs. Team Member may experience elevated levels of stress during periods of increased activity and with work entailing multiple deadlines.
