Job Description

Veolia Water Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Water Plant Technician to work at a client-owned water plant in the Las Vegas, NM area.

This position is responsible for performing operational support services at a Veolia-owned water treatment unit. This includes operational/laboratory/maintenance functions such as making adjustments to pumps, valves, and control systems, collecting/analyzing various samples, recording sample/process data, performing general maintenance, and making operational decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Comply with all client and Veolia safety rules and policies.
  • Learn to operate and control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate flow of water into treatment facilities.
  • Learn to collect and test water samples to determine contaminant concentrations.
  • Learn to perform all scheduled maintenance and service of water treatment equipment.
  • Be responsible for accurate record keeping of data such as chemical inventories, turbidity, pH, DO, and pressure.
  • Provide regular communication with fellow operators and management of any non-routine operating parameters that occur.
  • May be responsible for assisting with compiling data for the Environmental Protection Agency.
  • Coordinate with other operators throughout the customers plant in order to maintain the plants water treatment equipment.
  • Learn to coordinate with Veolia's purchasing department to order water treatment supplies, such as equipment and chemicals, in order to maintain the client's water treatment equipment.
  • Learn to troubleshoot problems within client's water treatment equipment and coordinate repairs, as necessary.
  • Study for and obtain a state water operator license. (Training material is provided)
  • Be able to work different shifts (days, evenings, nights) as well as length of shifts (8 to 12 hrs)


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office or google apps.
  • 3+ years of related work experience
  • Mechanical background is preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • Ability to lift 50 lb. bags of sand, carry up 90 pounds (two 5 gallon pails) 50 feet
