Job Summary This position supports manufacturing by providing focused projects that will improve throughput, reduce inventory and reduce operating expense.&nbsp; Drives reduced labor costs through cellular manufacturing and new/improved methods and equipment. Responsibilities include: <ul><li>Follow Howmet’s Safety Regulations and work Rules Handbook along with all department specific safety requirements.</li><li>Applies standard practices and techniques, adjust and correlate data recognize discrepancies in results and take corrective action.</li><li>Document work and prepare&nbsp;</li></ul> Equipment &amp; Fixturing <ul><li>Designs and implements TPM and preventative maintenance programs.</li><li>Ensures safe design and operation of all tools and equipment used by manufacturing.</li><li>Selects best techniques and tools for manufacturing operations after researching options.</li><li>Provides cost justification for equipment fixtures and tooling by selecting appropriate techniques and tooling.</li><li>Trains operators on the proper use of new equipment and fixtures.</li><li>Interacts with vendors to design and develop specifications for equipment.</li></ul> Manufacturing Methods <ul><li>Analyzes and improves work practice methods, ergonomics and material handling to eliminate waste and improve work efficiency.</li><li>Provides input into plant layout or acts independently to improve workflow.</li><li>Utilizes continuous various improvement methodologies including, 6 Sigma, SPC, IPC, COP and step-down plans.</li></ul> Communications <ul><li>Make presentations on various topics including cost presentations, continuous improvement and manufacturing operations.</li><li>Prepares and communicates various engineering documents.</li><li>Acts as liaison with part number engineers, supervision and operators.</li><li>Prepares technical reports.</li></ul> Internal Customer Support <ul><li>Provides manufacturing support for part number engineers.</li><li>Provides information, data analysis to and takes action items from QSIs.</li><li>Must comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines; this includes, but is not limited to, regular attendance and occasional overtime.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul> Skills and Abilities <ul><li>Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.&nbsp; Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.&nbsp;Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.&nbsp; Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.</li><li>Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
